super pants and american idol: the fat conflict

my friend eric has one of those jobs that has a crazy scheduling program that is both good and bad. he works 12 hour shifts for three days then gets two days off. he then works two days after that and then gets three days off. anyhow, today was one of his two days off and he called up to see i wanted to do something for lunch. we ended up grabbing a sandwich at subway. we ended up discussing movies today since he's one of the few friends i know that liked the matrix like me. we were trying to dissect why and why we don't like some actors.

afterwards, we went shopping at the mall. he was looking for a gift for a friend's wedding present and i was looking for clothes. i really wanted to get some more black cotton t-shirts. i know it's a very plain jane style to have but i just like simplicity in my clothes...but admire flare in other people's clothes.


so many of the sales were annoying. "i'm sorry, only this part of the shelf is on sale" "only the long sleeves were on sale" "that special only applies to the black jeans"
shopping can be so frustrating sometimes. i ended up getting a pair of jeans and two cotton t-shirts. i also got jeremy some slacks for work and two shirts. as i was getting rung up for the slacks, the woman was like "oh these pants are cool. they're those stain resistant, water resistant ones like the commercial. we had these up on the counter when they first came out and put water on them. we had them up for 6 hours and the water never sunk in." this provided for a nice little experiment when i got home. i told jeremy to try them on and come downstairs so i could see them. while he was changing, i got a huge glass of water and pretended to be drinking it when he came downstairs. when he came down i asked him how it fit and all. he said it was good and he liked them. i then asked him to come outside with me because i had something to talk to him about. since our friend eric was there, it sounded like i had something to say about our guest. when we got outside i looked up at him then WHAM i chucked the glass of water at his pants. SPLOOSH. the water rolled off his pants like butter. i got his socks wet though.

you should have seen his face. hehe. it was great. i think he thought i was crazy. before he could say "are you nuts!?" he was like "WOAH..that's cool!" hehe. so yeah, i had fun with pants today.

jeremy and eric just left to go play basketball. i'm contemplating on starting to clean my brother's room this evening. i might just start on it a little. at 7pm, i'm watching american idol. i have a morbid fascination with that show. i know it's completely phony and manipulative but i just can't help it. i'm hoping that clay wins even though i think reuben has a great voice. i'm mostly bitter against reuben because although he's overweight, simon never said anything to him because he's a guy. at the same time, simon told two of the female competitors that they needed to lose weight even though i didn't think they were overweight at all. i thought they looked good. i'm disgusted that women have to be portrayed as little busty wafers while men can look like complete slobs and get away with it. so yea, i'm a little biased. reuben breaks a sweat standing up. he is overweight. that's the truth. the females looked good and did not need to lose weight. bitter bitter pill.
