midnight rodeo

last night, my friend eric and i went out dancing. we couldn't convince jeremy to go. he says "i'm a gamer not a dancer." as if that were a real excuse. anyhow, we went to this place called midnight rodeo. my compromise with my friend is that if i go country dancing with him, he'll go clubbing with me. so we got to this place i knew i was going to feel totally odd in...nothing but white cowboy girls and boys...and your hand picked selection of hoochies.

i got to learn the two step, the polka, and the waltz. i also picked up a few spins and extra moves as well. it's a pretty fun dance. i like it because it has rhythm and structure. i like both kinds of dancing. the place had a band called emotions. they sang great country music but every other song they would sing some raps. the guy came out singing 50cent, then eminem, then nelly, b2k, vanilla ice, and baby got back. it was way wrong. just because you can say the words doesn't mean you should sing it.

what was even more of a hoot was watching all these white hicks try to dance to r&b. they wouldn't dance but rather "strut"... basically, it was that kind of shake shake wiggle wiggle thing people do that you see on tv a lot. it's not a full expression but rather, here i am, look at me. it's kind of cute actually. i loved watching all the chicks strut their stuff.

we left when i started to get really crowded because then you're not really country dancing, you're slow dancing.

today, jeremy took off half a day so we're going to go see finding nemo and go out for lunch.

15 gay bachelors

http://www.cnn.com/2003/SHOWBIZ/TV/05/27/television.bravo.reut/index.html

there's this new reality show on bravo that was supposed to air a few days ago. it features one gay man looking for love and supposedly 15 potential bachelors to choose from. however, some of those bachelors (the amount is undisclosed to the public) are straight men. the producers of the show are saying that this kind of reality show will begin to allow viewers to explore male stereotypes.

i think it's a sham. i don't think you can truly understand male behavior when you know that half the men are behaving the way they are because they are paid actors. i think this is another one of those shows that should have been a pivotal movement in our society but has turned into a circus. of course, this just goes to show that gay and straight people alike have their fair share of idiots.

5% of lj users are paid accounts

i got a notice today saying that my live journal is up in ten days. i forgot how much it costs to renew. it didn't seem like much as i remember. i'll probably renew it even though it has been annoying as hell to use these past few weeks. i was reading their statistics they have up on their main page. apparently only 5% of live journal users have a paid account. wow. that's sad. it's too bad they don't do something to make sure their paid users are more satisfied. they would probably lose less of them. it's some really great software. i just think their systems are getting overloaded.

i guess i'm bummed at it because i'm losing two GREAT lj friends. LJ is a great way to keep up with people you probably wouldn't really get to know otherwise. i keep my friends list pretty small. i think i've found an interesting eclectic group of people to keep my curiosity palette satisfied.

well. gonna either go fold clothes or play wolf 3d.

jeremy's morning.

every morning, jeremy gets up around 6:30am. he puts on his clothes for work, brushes his teeth, combs his hair, pee pees, and puts on cologne. not necessarily in that order though. he then gives me kisses and says "love you, see you this afternoon." then i try to say through my sleepiness, "miss you, have a good day." then he replies. "miss you more, love you." after he says good bye, he goes downstairs and greets the kitties. he makes himself a lunch then heads off to work. by leaving so early he accomplishes two things. 1) there's no traffic on the road to deal with. 2) he gets to come home from work at 3pm.

i can't give you a play by play of his day at work specifically. i'm not sure what goes on all day. some of it is top secret stuff. i know he works on code, goes to meetings, eats lunch while he's working, and gets free cokes and snacks. when he's got no work on his lap, he surfs the net and reads current events and chats with me.

on most days, well every day but this one, he'd be home only hours after i had just gotten up. today is different because i actually got up when he woke me up to say goodbye.

i'm actually watching the sunrise outside my window while typing this entry. i'm not looking at the sun directly because that hurts but i can see the light changing outside and in the room. it's nice and now i have the whole day to utilize or waste. :)

good morning sunshine.

memorial weekend

memorial weekend was pretty good. the lan party Friday was pretty fun. i was content playing wolf 3d all night but other people wanted to try battlefield 1942. it took them like 2 hours to get that set up for everyone. we ended up playing till 4:30am or so. i didn't get to sleep till 6am that night. the next day, my brother was supposed to go back to bmt. he had come up to austin for the party. however, he ended up staying for another night. our attempts at getting another lan party going that night failed miserably but we figured something else out instead.

our friend eric came out to our place and we had six computers ready to play wolf 3d but we only had 4 at the condo. my brother and his friend were able to figure out how to login and join our game so that made 6 all together. we played a couple of 2 v 4 games until 4:30am again. my brother and jeremy are a pretty good team. jeremy is an excellent sniper and john is efficient at assaults.

Sunday morning, my brother left. jeremy didn't get up till well after noon. we called our friends up and somehow got everyone together for a picnic up north. we brought hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, condiments, brownies, and a frisbee. it took us a while to get the barbeque pit going because it had no vents to allow airflow. once we got a miniature hand held fan infront of it, the coals finally got hot. mmmm... then the bbq was underway.. yummmmy! after we stuffed ourselves, we played frisbee in the park for an hour or so. i suck at it. jeremy was throwing the thing under his legs and catching it backwards. i'd toss the thing out and it would go in the opposite direction.

after the exercise, we stopped by this snow cone shack that was in the park. i got a strawberry snow cone. it actually wasn't a snow cone but shaved ice..which is ten times better. it was delicious. i can't believe how much they charge for ice though! it's a scam.

the guys ended up playing risk till late that night. i headed back home and unloaded the picnic stuff, took a shower, and played some wolf-3d single player.

network party

i'm at my friend eric's place right now. our computers are all set up now. we're getting ready for the network gaming to begin. some of the guys went out go get liquor. i don't much care for alchy but i'll have my diet dr. pepper.

quite possibly by tonight, we could have 10 people playing. the place is hot already and the thermostat is set to 70. suckage. too bad it's not my place, i'd sacrifice one night of a high electricity bill so that others do not have to suffer. :) i just don't want to complain too much. i know that throwing a network party can be a bitch.

doop doop doop.. just waiting around.
we're waiting for two more people to show up to begin.
i don't know where they're going to sit because we took up the main table.
doop doop doop..
