i'm so sickened and disgusted by our culture. that we would wallow in fear of living, cowering behind a wall of righteousness. in a christian nation, and that is what i'm living in, you are taught very young to discriminate based on your own beliefs. those who don't believe are wrong and going to hell. one christian told me that you must get to kids when they are young because the path to faith is fear. surely, millions of years of evolution has not come to this... it seems self defeating. it seems that while we are at the pinnacle of living, we try to bind ourselves back down.
the doma, defense of marriage act, passed through the House in Texas yesterday. this bill discriminates against any kind of marriage other than that between man and woman.
do they think that by not allowing homosexuals to get married, they're going to eliminate all the homosexuals in texas? if marriage is really a concern for the the legislature, why don't they fine people for breaking their marriage contract? why? because marriage is just a social mask we put over relationships to publicly announce that things are OKAY..and things are going AS ACCORDING TO HOW IT SHOULD. relationships are so much more complex than that.... they go beyond marriage in my opinion.. if a relationship only exists in marriage, it's a total lie... but in this world, you need marriage in order to prove that a real relationship exists. it's really a shitty deal. i just don't understand why this issue would be so high on their priority list when there are other things in texas that need to be dealt with. can you believe it? my tax dollars went towards all of this.
but i have a sneaking suspicion that a lot of christian coalition money was behind this. lobbyist are the devil. too bad the GLBTA doesn't pass around a collection plate demanding 10% of your income...then maybe things would get done. :P
